Noriaki has experience in patent prosecution and open source licensing.  He also advises clients on regulation and compliance for UL (Underwriters Laboratories certification), EN (European Standard), CEN (European Committee for Standardization), CENELEC (European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization) and ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute), CE (European Conformity), JIS (Japan Industrial Standard), and other various compliance bodies including NEBS, GR.  Noriaki’s areas of expertise include software, artificial intelligence, navigation systems, and mobile applications.


Prior to practicing law, Noriaki was as a product development engineer for Hitachi. Ltd. in Yokohama, Japan. Noriaki’s experience as an engineer includes design, testing, and production management for many IT-Telecommunication device’s casings and enclosures.  Noriaki also served in the Army as a combat medic for 5 years.


Noriaki received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Portland State University and Juris Doctorate from Santa Clara University School of Law.  Noriaki has been admitted to practice in California and admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).  Noriaki is a native English and Japanese speaker and has strong network with many top Japanese intellectual property law community.
